Welcome to CLUB FAIR
BC Program successfully held its first popular event of the new semester this Wednesday — the Club Fair. Twenty-four clubs participated in the fair, with a wide variety of clubs such as Ultimate Frisbee, Drama Club, Soccer Team, Badminton Club and Cooking Club.
Right after school, the club booths were already surrounded with students asking questions. Many Chinese and foreign teachers also came to the club fair and lingered in front of various club booths. Among them, some clubs were founded by students, such as DICY and Band Club, while others were led by teachers, such as Cooking Club, Photography Club and Drama Club.
Ella loves sports and she is the president of Badminton Club as well as a member of Frisbee team. She told us that about 40 students had signed up for her club this year, which was quite unexpected. “We will eventually select about 20 people to join the team. Those who are not selected for the team should not be discouraged because they can come to the gym after school to play and practice with their friends. Playing badminton is relatively easy to get started, we have regular training and matches this semester. I’m sure we’ll do better with our new members!” .
DIY Club is one of the new clubs this year. Grace is the president and founder. “I like to do some products with open ends. I found that many students also like this, so I found this club with my friends.” In the fair, they recruited 30 new members, which is not easy for a new club. “I hope more students can join us to make wonderful work!”
Ultimate Frisbee is extremely popular in BC of Jiaoke. Jerry is the captain this year. Many students had signed up at their booth. “About 17 students want to join us, but we need to control the team size to ensure the quality of training. The competition is fierce because we will end up with about 7-10 people”. the captain told us. High quality of training is the secret to success for the frisbee team. “The team has a strong sense of teamwork, helping each other and also actively learning from the failures. I believe we can continue to achieve a lot at a high level this year!”
Tony, who loves sports, is a key player in the BC soccer team. He joins the Frisbee team as well. He told us about the development of BC soccer team and how it becomes a famous club in the BC Program. “I hope new members will come to the training and games actively and communicate more with their teammates. We are a big family, we share the sadness when we lose and we are exultant for our success when we win!”
Some students have a wide range of interests and have joined many clubs, Julian is one of them. He joined Badminton Club, Model United Nations, and Band Club. “The BC Program has lots of clubs and we can always find our own interest here. I want to try more new things, so I have joined many clubs and participate in more meaningful group activities after school.” Julian also likes philosophy and plans to create a Philosophy Club next year to discuss some topics in philosophy.
The club fair is over, but all students have joined their favorite clubs after it! We wish you all the best in your life in BC Program!
