BC Principal Address
The principal of SUIS Jiaoke Campus Summer Li and the principal of BC program Ms. Wereschuk extended a warm welcome to the graduates and the parents present. They also gave their best wishes to the graduates.
First, they emphasized that graduation is a moment to celebrate learning, growth and resilience, and that SUIS Jiaoke is the starting point for students to become global citizens. As principals, they have witnessed the transformation of students from completing rigorous academic programs to becoming confident young adults, whose growth reflects the spirit of the BC program. During their high school years, students experienced the transition between online and offline learning brought about by the pandemic, but they deeply studied subject knowledge and built core competencies such as cross-cultural communication and critical thinking. After the 10th grade, students used tools like AI to explore global challenges, no longer limited to memorizing knowledge, but learning to connect knowledge, reflect on learning, and transform academic skills into holistic and reflective life skills.
They pointed out that students have demonstrated personal and social responsibility in a multi-cultural environment: by cooperating, tutoring younger students, and supporting campus activities, they have formed a unique cross-cultural perspective in Shanghai, where eastern and western cultures meet, relying on the Canadian curriculum. In addition, the students’ university admission achievements are remarkable: a total of 349 offers have been received, including 281 from world top 100 universities and 142 from world top 30 universities, of which 77 are from the top University of Toronto in Canada, 4 from the high-requirement McGill University, and 31 from UBC. In the UK direction, there is a first breakthrough, with 11 offers from top 5 UK institutions such as Imperial College London and University College London, demonstrating the students’ academic strength and efforts.
On behalf of the school, they expressed gratitude to the faculty and staff, saying that they taught students to learn with professional spirit, helped them develop their personalities with kindness, and interpreted the importance of determination and creativity with dedication. The competencies such as compassion and critical thinking demonstrated by them influence students through diverse assessments, projects and activities. They also thanked parents for their trust and support during uncertain times such as the pandemic, believing that it was parents who gave their children the opportunity to explore a world beyond imagination that made today’s graduation moment possible.
They sent a message to the graduates: no matter where they go to start a new chapter in Canada, the UK, Asia and other places, they should learn knowledge beyond textbooks, have the courage to speak out, and hold on to their cultural and personal identities. They emphasized that graduates are not only prepared for the world, but also have the ability to shape the world. Finally, they ended with “Congratulations to the Class of 2025, we are proud of you”, conveying firm confidence and deep expectations for the students’ future.
Parent Welcome Address
Mr. Wang, Alex Wang Peichen’s father, spoke as the parents’ representative. He shared the joy of Alex’s growth with the parents, and also expressed his gratitude to the BC program and heartfelt wishes to the graduates!
As a graduate’s parent, he recalled the reason for choosing the BC program for his child four years ago: although the child had stable grades in public school, there was a lack of space for asking questions, making choices, and exploring passions. Despite the challenges brought by the new curriculum system, language environment, and learning methods, the child gradually took the initiative to plan time, ask in-depth questions, set goals, and in the study of science subjects (mathematics, chemistry, physics), not only improving his abilities but also tempering the qualities of independence, self-discipline, and confidence. Finally, he received offers from four universities and chose the computer major at the University of Alberta.
He shared the experience of his child participating in a group project in the 11th grade: facing heavy tasks, tight schedules, and internal disagreements, the child took the initiative to assume responsibility, coordinate tasks, resolve conflicts, and revise content late into the night, eventually leading the team to complete the project and winning respect. In this process, the child learned calm communication and emotional management, and truly understood the meaning of responsibility. This illustrates that responsibility is a symbol of maturity, encouraging graduates to uphold responsibility in freedom and take responsibility as the inner strength for life choices.
On behalf of parents, he thanked the principal and Chinese-foreign teachers, stating that they not only imparted knowledge but also interpreted responsibility and set examples with actions, helping children grow into more powerful individuals. Finally, he wished that children would shoulder responsibility, hold hope, move forward firmly on the road of life, and become people with light in their eyes, love in their hearts, and responsibility on their shoulders, illuminating the world with their commitment.

Mr. Charrier, a humorous and active faculty representative, then took the stage to share his experiences and memories with the graduates.
He believes that graduating from high school is an exciting and distinct turning point, where the adult world brings more freedom and responsibility. As a young adult who graduated from university just a few years ago, he understands the uncertainties of this new life stage, using his own experience to bridge the emotional gap with the graduates.
As a teacher whose first batch of students are now graduating, he cherishes the laughter shared with students in English, Textiles, and First Peoples English Studies classes. Even when students occasionally complained about challenging assignments, he appreciated the curiosity, creativity, and humor they brought to the classroom every day. He felt both proud and reluctant about this final gathering at graduation.
He affirmed the unique qualities in each student, believing they have demonstrated resilience to thrive in choices like further studies, moving abroad, or social interactions. Citing the photographer’s quote “I love to go where I’ve never been,” he encouraged students to embrace the future with a spirit of exploring the unknown, trusting they will find their own path while hoping they remember their roots and visit the school often.

Valedictorian Address
After the award ceremony and diploma presentation ceremony, the final speech was from G12 valedictorians Leslie Wang and Bruce Lei. Their speech was the students’ final goodbye before they went their separate ways to pursue their dreams.
They started with a dialogue, marveling at the arrival of graduation, then solemnly delivered a speech as valedictorians, emphasizing that representing the Class of 2025 was the highest honor. They jointly expounded on the core spirit of SUIS Jiaoke, believing the school grants students the precious freedom to “spread their wings and soar”—supporting them to pursue excellence academically, strive wholeheartedly in sports, or build unforgettable memories through organizing campus activities, reflecting the school’s encouragement for comprehensive development.
Standing on the stage, they marveled at how swiftly four years had passed, recalling bits of high school life: friendships unbroken by group projects, the teacher’s mantra “A+ A+”, mochas at the café during breaks, laughter and debates in class, and even interesting assignments with rubrics longer than the tasks themselves. They frankly admitted not missing Friday 8 AM math homework or sudden English pop quizzes, yet regarded these daily details as the most cherished memories, imbued with reluctance and affection for campus life.
They believed “change is not a bad thing,” urging graduates to applaud their efforts and face future uncertainties with the resilience shown during exam weeks. Stressing that each would chase different dreams, they trusted everyone could create their own future, while thanking family, teachers, friends, and school staff, hoping graduates would embark on new journeys with gratitude.
Representing all graduates, they thanked the school, ending with the motto “Per aspera ad astra” (Through hardships to the stars). This not only echoed their growth through challenges in high school but also wished the Class of 2025 could overcome difficulties with tenacity and reach their ideal shores, concluding the speech with powerful resonance.
